Everything you need to get started with Overdrive Workspace, plus answers to the questions we hear most often. Can't find what you need? Head to Support.
Getting started
1. Connect your Workspace
Sign in as a Workspace admin and grant Overdrive read-only access. It cannot change, delete, or move anything in your organization.
2. Run your first scan
Overdrive reads your Drive sharing activity and directory to find external and public exposure. Larger workspaces take longer to complete.
3. Review your findings
Your dashboard shows public links, files shared outside your domain, risky internal users, and exposure from suspended or departed accounts.
4. Export a report
Download a CSV or PDF summary to share with your security or IT team.
Frequently asked questions
From the dashboard, choose Connect Workspace and sign in with a Workspace admin account. You'll be asked to approve Google's read-only permissions for Overdrive.
Read-only access to your Workspace audit reports, user directory, and verified domains — enough to detect external and public sharing. Overdrive never requests write access or reads file contents. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of scopes.
No. The current product is entirely read-only. Any change to sharing or permissions is something you do yourself in Google's own tools.
It depends on the size of your Workspace and how much sharing activity there is to process. Most scans finish within a few minutes; very large organizations may take longer.
No. Overdrive turns audit events into findings and then discards them — we never store file contents or a copy of your raw Google audit log.
Go to Settings → Workspace and choose Disconnect. Your OAuth token is revoked immediately, and all derived findings are deleted within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details.
